Race for Grace returns in person May 2

An open letter to Kentucky horsemen from the Race for Grace and the Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy:

The Race for Grace will be at the Gate, Monday, May 2, 2022, at Churchill Downs – Millionaires Row Celebrating the Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy in person! We call you “to the post” today asking for your support and to join us in honoring the Ministry that Races for Grace. Your contributions allow us to continue our mission to minister to the fundamental and spiritual needs of the horsemen and women working at the racetracks and training centers Kentucky and Southern Ohio.

Every year, there are over 7,000 licensees working at Kentucky and Southern Ohio racetracks to whom the Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy ensures they can have a family church and a home away from home. Our Chaplains, staff members, volunteers and directors provide worship services, Bible studies, prayer groups, spiritual guidance counseling, meals, clothing, women’s and children’s ministries, medical clinics and a friend whenever there is a need. We invite you to visit our website to watch our Virtual 2021 Race for Grace and learn more about our “Ministry of Presence.” (www.kychaplaincy.org}

Mike, a backside worker since age 14 has been a groom and hot-walker states: “I never really felt at home in church, but the chaplaincy is different – The chaplaincy has supported me and my family. I see the good works being done daily and how the chaplain and staff go out of their way helping everyone. I feel I now have a home”

These past few years have certainly been a challenge for all of us, yet through your support we were able to keep our chapel, meeting rooms and offices open and staff available at Churchill Downs, Ellis Park, Kentucky Downs, Turfway Park and Belterra Park. Our chaplains walk the barn areas in the morning, pray with the jockeys and the starting gate crews before the races and are readily available in the saddling paddocks, grandstands, and clubhouses.

This year we will be conducting our annual Race for Grace fundraiser face to face at Churchill Downs’ Millionaires Row, Monday, May 2 – the Monday before the 2022 Kentucky Derby. The Keynote Speaker will be nationally recognized pastor Bob Russell and Pat Day will be our master of ceremonies. We are all in for a very spirit-led program. Sponsorship opportunities are presented below. We hope and pray you will join us for this very special event and be a sponsor and/or donor for the Kentucky Race Track Chaplaincy in 2022 and beyond.

Keep in the Race for Grace and God Bless!
