FLORENCE, Ky. (Feb. 14, 2025) – X-Men Racing, Madaket Stables and SF Racing’s Grade III winner Somethinabouther headlines a competitive group of 12 3-year-old fillies, plus one also-eligible, entered in Friday’s 43rd running of the $175,000 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, a Prep Season event on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks.
Run at one-mile, the Cincinnati Trophy is carded as Race 7 with a post time of 8:55 p.m. (all times Eastern). First post is 5:55 p.m. The Cincinnati Trophy is part of the Road to the Kentucky Oaks Prep Season, awarding qualifying points on a 20-10-6-4-2 scale to the top five finishers toward a spot in the starting gate for the $1.5 million Longines Kentucky Oaks (GI) on Friday, May 2 at Churchill Downs.
Trained by Brendan Walsh, Somethinabouther makes her season debut following a determined victory in the Mazarine Stakes (GIII) at Woodbine over the Tapeta surface. Jockey Declan Cannon, who was aboard for that win, will travel from his winter base at Fair Grounds to retain the mount from post No. 6.
Somethinabouther is one of three fillies Walsh entered in the race. The others are Mazarine fourth-place finisher Salt and local maiden special weight winner Wonderous, who needs one defection to make the body of the field.
