HENDERSON, Ky. (Saturday, July 6, 2024) – Rittdiculous Gazmanian Stable’s promising 3-year-old filly, Niki Nine Doors, recorded the first stakes victory of her young career by winning Saturday’s fourth running of the $125,000 Pea Patch Stakes at Ellis Park Racing & Gaming.

Sent off at odds of 8-1, Niki Nine Doors pulled the upset victory in the Pea Patch Stakes with Gerardo Corrales in the irons for trainer Chris Davis. The lightly-raced filly completed 5 ½ furlongs on turf in a swift 1:01.24.

Following a good start for all 12 runners in the Pea Patch Stakes, Niki Nine Doors stayed close to the early pace while sitting fourth, about two lengths behind dueling leaders High Fashion Kate and Moonlit Lady who tore an opening quarter-mile in :21.21. After a demanding half-mile in :43.53, Niki Nine Doors took the lead from the tiring pacesetters at the head of the lane and pulled away in the final eighth mile for a two-length victory.

Niki Nine Doors rewarded her backers while paying $19.60, $8.74, and $4.96. Quimichis, under jockey Martin Chuan, closed ground late to finish second and returned $5.90 and $4.10. Ms. Tart, with jockey Axel Concepcion aboard, completed the trifecta and paid $5.92.

Moonlit Lady, who was part of the early pace, finished fourth, followed by Ready for TroubleVisually, Twirl Around, High Fashion Kate, Tx Women for ArtsThese ApplesField Lass and Carolina Candy.

The Pea Patch Stakes victory was Niki Nine Doors’ second-career win from six starts. The victory was worth $72,660, boosting her lifetime earnings to $136,890.
