Ky Racing Spotlight: Ferrin Peterson, Bill Morey and Ky Sen. Robin Webb
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022) — Veterinarian-turned-jockey Ferrin Peterson, trainer Bill Morey and Kentucky State Senator Robin Webb are this week’s featured guests on Kentucky Racing Spotlight presented by the Kentucky HBPA this Friday from 6-7 p.m. ET on Louisville’s ESPN 680 AM/105.7 FM.
Peterson rode part-time at Golden Gate Fields while working on her veterinary medicine degree at the University of California Davis, plunging into riding full-time after achieving her DVM in 2019. She rode in Southern California, Monmouth Park and the mid-Atlantic before relocating to Kentucky last fall with an eye on Turfway Park’s long winter meet. Peterson spends her non-racing days assisting in surgeries at an equine clinic. This week, she’s helping another veterinarian with sales work at Keeneland.
Morey, who relocated his stable from California to Kentucky in mid-2019, captured Turfway Park’s holiday meet title the past two years. His stable includes 3-for-3 Marissa’s Lady, winner of Churchill Downs’ $200,000 Fern Creek and Turfway’s $100,000 Gowell Stakes, along with the stakes-winners Visitant and Hush of a Storm.
Program hosts Joe Clabes and Jennie Rees also welcome Senator Webb, who is from Grayson and represents Boyd, Carter and Greenup counties. The straight-shooting Webb is an attorney with expertise in equine law as well as a horsewoman, sportswoman, stateswoman and proud advocate for her East Kentucky district.
In addition to airing on ESPN 680-AM/105.7 FM, the region’s sports-talk leader, Kentucky Racing Spotlight will be streamed live at espnlouisville.com, on the ESPN 680 app and the TuneIn and iHeart apps. The replay will be available on espnlouisville.com under the podcasts tab.
